About Us
Progressive Therapeutics, PC was founded in 1998 by physical therapists Dawn MacConkey–Sandalcidi and Kathe Wallace.
Dawn MacConkey—Sandalcidi PT, RCMT practices in Denver, Colorado, specializing in orthopedic manual therapy and pelvic muscle dysfunction treatment. She has trained professionals in manual therapy since 1992 both nationally and internationally. In addition, as an affiliate faculty member at Regis University Department of Physical Therapy she teaches incontinence evaluation and treatment, pelvic muscle dysfunction and women’s health physical therapy.
Dawn received her BS in physical therapy in 1982 from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. She then began extensive international postgraduate studies in manual and manipulative therapy of the spine and extremities in Germany, Switzerland and New Zealand.
In 1992 Dawn completed 5 years of study and became a Rocabado Certified Manual Therapist (RCMT) and currently instructs Mariano Rocabado techniques for spine, pelvis and craniomandibular disorders. In 1992 as a private practice owner she began evaluating and treating patients with pelvic muscle dysfunction in adult incontinence and pelvic girdle instability patient populations. She also developed a pediatric dysfunctional voiding treatment program and further studied pediatric conditions in post graduate work at Regis University. Dawn has published articles in the Journal of Urologic Nursing, the Journal of Manual and Manipulative Therapy, and the Journal of International Association of Orofacial Myology. She currently owns a private practice, Physical Therapy Specialists in Denver, Colorado and teaches post-graduate seminars on sacroiliac dysfunction, adult and pediatric pelvic floor dysfunction. Kathe Wallace, PT is an internationally recognized physical therapist, author, lecturer and consultant in women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction evaluation and treatment. Kathe graduated from UCLA with a BS in Kinesiology and received her certificate in Physical Therapy in 1976. Since 1988, her clinical practice has specialized in the evaluation and treatment of incontinence and chronic pelvic pain dysfunctions.
She currently owns a private practice in Seattle, Washington, regularly teaches continuing education seminars on pelvic floor dysfunction and develops educational material for health care providers. Kathe has presented pelvic floor physical therapy evaluation and treatment techniques at many national meetings including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Combined Sections Meetings of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Kathe served on the project advisory panel of the National Association for Continence from 1992-1998. In 1995, she was asked to serve as a peer reviewer of the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research Clinical Practice Guidelines for Urinary Incontinence. She is a contributing author to seven sections in the APTA’s Section on Women’s Health Gynecological Manual and Clinics in Sports Medicine: The Athletic Woman.
